Psalm 111:10
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom:
a good understanding have all they that do His commandments:
His praise endureth for ever."
MISSION STATEMENT:
"The Rocky Mount Seventh-day Adventist Church School operates as an outreach ministry of the Rocky Mount Seventh-day Adventist Church. Our school's purpose is to provide a challenging educational program which focuses on the united development of each student's physical, mental, social and spiritual growth. Our goal is for every student to know God through the life of Jesus Christ, to accept Jesus as their personal Savior, and to become like Him in unselfish service to the world. We will strive to prepare our students for the joy of service now in this world and for the higher joy of service in the world to come."
"It is the school's endeavor to found our entire program on the principles of the Bible, and pattern it after the plan of education given to us in God's instructions. The value of this instruction has been demonstrated time and again, and we are confident that God's blessing will come to all as they cooperate in applying it."
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
Our aim is to honor God and serve one another at the school by:
- A cheerful, compliant attitude
- Positive, life-savoring comments and conversation
- Neat, complete, timely school work
- Thorough, honorable chore performance
- A neat and orderly school environment
HOME COOPERATION
God has given parents the main responsibility of training their children for His service. Our school is a cooperative extension of the home education as a tool for the parents to use in training their children for service now and through eternity. We believe the school plan will do much to help the parents as they are FULLY behind the mission and plan of the school. To have one set of values and expectations at school while having an entirely different expectation and follow-through at home would only be confusing and counterproductive to the students.
It is vitally important that our parents have consistent time with the Lord to gain strength and wisdom from Him to carry out our mission. Each student is also encouraged to spend quiet time with the Lord and in His Word to be filled and braced for the day's needs and activities.
Each parent and student is expected to read through this handbook and make a decision to be fully committed to the purposes and plan of this school.

The privilege of attending the Rocky Mount Seventh-day Adventist Church School is not limited to young people of the Seventh-day Adventist faith. Communicable Diseases
Please telephone the school immediately if your child is diagnosed as having a contagious disease. We would appreciate your cooperation in this matter. No students will be allowed to stay at school if they develop a fever during the school day. The student will be separated from the other students until the parent/guardian can be contacted to pick up their child.
Emergency School Closing
Occasionally, emergency conditions make it necessary to close school. In most cases, this will be due to heavy snowfall, which makes the roads impassable or unsafe. In case of emergency closing, you will be contacted by phone no later than 7:30 AM. The decision to close the school will rest with the teacher. School closings will be reported to WYTI - AM 1570.

Medications
Parents are asked to consider the potential danger of having students bring medication to school. The school recognizes that medications are justified in chronic health conditions and short-term acute health conditions, but no medication will be administered without the written permission of a parent. Students will not be allowed to exchange medications with other students.
Visitors
Parents are always welcome to visit the school. Parents who plan to visit the classroom should inform the teacher of their intentions by a note or telephone call prior to the visit. Every effort will be made to contact parents/guardians in the event of an emergency or serious illness. In those cases where an injury appears to be serious, we retain the right to seek professional help, including ambulance, doctor, and emergency room service. Parents will be responsible to pay for the services obtained in the child's behalf, except those coming under the accident insurance policy.
Telephone Calls and Messages
Student use of telephone will be limited to necessary or emergency calls only. An answering machine is in operation at the school in order to receive messages when no one is available and to screen calls during the school day. Messages are listened to by the teacher at appropriate breaks and calls are returned at the first available convenience (after school in most cases). Students are not allowed to use cell phones during the school day. Any cell phones brought to school will be kept by the teacher during school hours.
We appreciate the confidence shown in placing your children under our guidance. Let's pray for each other that this school year will be truly effective for eternity.
